With the world Cup just around the corner and only a matter of months away, Wayne Rooney scored an absolute classic for Manchester United at West Ham’s Upton Park.
With England manager Roy Hodgson sitting in the stands Rooney could’nt have picked a better day to pull out a wonder goal that many have likened to David Bechams goal vs Wimbledon many years ago , in which he scored from the half-way line.
Rooney’s goal was from a similar distance and equally as impressive and will have had Hodgson purring that he will (barring any injury to the Manchester attacker) be able to call on him to lead England in their pursuit of a winning the world cup in Brazil.
Hodgson will have been taking a look at Andy Carroll, West Ham united’s powerful forward as well as Rooney and it could be a possibility that they play alongside each other at the world cup.
Carroll ended up on the wrong end of a 2-0 result with Rooney scoring two on the day but had a good game and should make the final squad when Hodgson picks it in the next few weeks.
