Many would argue that with the money on offer from Champions League and the domestic competition in England, the FA Cup has now lost its sparkle. If you went back 10 years you could pretty much see at least 1 of the premier league teams suffering a giant-killing from a lower division (sometimes even non-league) team.
Now however, with the talent that now is so rich in Englands top-flight it is fairly rare to see a huge giant-killing in the FA Cup and this is one of the main reasons why some say that sparkle has gone.
For Australia its a different story…yes the A-league clubs have more money to spend on wages than some of the lower level teams that they will compete against in the FFA Cup, but surely the gulf is nowhere near as big as say the English Prem and Dvi.3 in England.
Hold on to your hats A-league clubs! The FFA cup is already underway and if you think it’s gonna be easy going to somewhere on a cold Tuesday night in a small stadium with a huge home support, and getting an easy result – think again!
