In a perfect setting at Todd Geissmann oval at Mount Tamborine Galaxy Soccer arrived to hold a soccer party for a birthday boy that was mad about soccer!
A few years ago this may well have been a party with a different theme altogether, with perhaps a soccer theme not even being thought about.
Now however, with the A-league growing in supporters every year, Australia’s national team qualifying for world cups (dare we say regularly now) and record numbers of junior registrations to soccer clubs and programs, soccer is now becoming a massive growth area in Brisbane and indeed in the whole of Australia.
The mighty Manchester City now own A-league club Melbourne Heart – who knows what that has the potential to produce. Perhaps Aguero would like a place in the sun at the end of his career? or any promising youth players that come through at the Heart could feed through to the ranks of Manchester City!
“Enrolments for our weekend and after school programs have really taken a spike this year, along with our soccer party bookings” says Galaxy Soccer Director Lee Clark. “We find that children are just generally more aware of soccer now. It used to be that a few children would talk about the top 2 or 3 Premier League teams in England. Now children will tell you their favorite A-League players and some are even starting to support the not-so fashionable teams in the premier League such as Southampton and Cardiff.
All in all soccer is just such an easy sport to play between friends…1 ball, a goal and a group of friends and you have a game kids will play for hours !
