Big headlines for round 2 of the Barclays Premier League this week were, Spurs going top of the league, Aston Villa failing to register one shot on goal in their game versus Newcastle and Manchester United getting their first point of the season.
After winning (rather fortuitously) at West Ham last week Spurs breezed past QPR and their old boss Harry Redknapp with a comfortable 4-0 win. Nacer Chadli scored two goals and had a very good game. Big Harry will have to hope for revenge when they get back to Loftus Rd later in the year.
Spurs’ big London rival Arsenal came back from 2-0 down at Everton with Olivier Giroud scoring the equalising goal. Some fans would not have been happy with a draw but at least there were goals. Aston Villa v Newcastle produced a drab 0-0 draw in which every shot from Aston Villa was off target – at least Newcastle registered some shots on target…they just didnt go in!! Southampton v West Brom had the same score line.
Hull City v Stoke ended 1-1 and Man.Utd away to Sunderland had the same score line. Juan Mata started the scoring and ex-Man City player Jack Rodwell replied for Sunderland. Nice to see him off the injury table!
New signing Mario Zarate got off the mark for West Ham, scoring an exceptional goal to take them to a 3-1 over Crystal Palace. Other comfortable wins were recorded by Swansea who beat Burnley 1-0 and Chelsea who got past Leicester City 2-0, Eden Hazard scoring the first and Diego Costa notching the second.
The Monday night could be a classic… Man.City v Liverpool! Can Suarez-short Liverpool get past Pellegrini’s poachers – gotta be worth a watch!
