Villa has just signed for MLS team New York City and with their new season not starting until March 2015 a perfect way for Villa to get game time, keep fit and be ready for the new MLS season, was to join an A-league team in Australia.
Throw in that Manchester City FC co-own New York City FC and Melbourne City FC, you have the perfect scenario for everyone involved!
Del Peirro and now David Villa – who is still only 32 and a fantastic player, mean the A-League is now starting to get some serious coverage and it can only bring other great players to the league!
